TPU Injection Molding
Thermoplastic polyurethane or TPU is a hard-wearing thermoplastic material. This material can be used for injection molding to produce TPU products for a variety of applications.
NDDMold is an expert in TPU injection molding. We can produce injection-molded TPU products in various shapes and sizes. Moreover, complex or simple shapes and designs are possible with our TPU injection molding. We can also add external or internal threads on the injection-molded TPU products. Just send us your mold design and other specifications.

Advantages of TPU
Flexibility
TPU is a flexible material. You can stretch them and their shape or size will remain the same. However, there are TPU materials that are hard. It varies on their grade.
Durability
Thermoplastic polyurethane products are highly durable and have high impact strength. They can withstand tear and wear.
Weather Resistance
Injection-molded TPU products won’t rot under outdoor applications since they are resistant to water, ozone, and UV light.
Chemical Resistance
TPU is resistant to various chemicals and solvents.
Low-Temperature Resistance
Injection-molded TPU products can be used in low-temperature applications. Their flexibility and strength will retain even under low temperatures.
Hydrophobic
The TPU products can be used in wet or moist applications since they don’t absorb water.
Abrasion Resistance
Since they are abrasion-resistant, you can use them in environments where friction is present.
Biocompatibility
Other TPU grades have biocompatibility. Those grades can be used in dental or medical applications
Electrical Insulation
TPU features electrical insulation. Due to that, it can be used in producing parts used in electronics or electrical applications.
TPU injection molding can produce TPU products such as:
- Gaskets
- Gears
- Footwear
- Hose
- Tubing
- Phone cases
- Grips
- Caps
- Prosthetics and orthotics
- Sporting goods
It can also produce injection-molded TPU products used in medical, automotive, electronics, electrical, and many other industries.
Preparation of Material
This process starts by drying the TPU pellets to remove their moisture.
Feeding of Material
The TPU pellets will be fed to the hopper. Then, they will be melted into the barrel.
Injection
The melted TPU will be injected into the mold cavity at high pressure.
Cooling
Then, the TPU molds will solidify by cooling them.
Ejection
When it’s cooled, the molded TPU products will be removed from the mold cavity. The products will be then inspected to see if there are defects.
Post-Processing
The injection-molded TPU products may need assembly, printing, painting, and other post-processes you require.
