Special Capabilities of Silicone Injection Molding

Below are some special capabilities of using silicone injection molding:

Delicate Parts. It is able to form delicate parts in just a few minutes.

Thin Sections. This injection molding machine is able to create even the thinnest section of silicone parts from 0.10mm or less. Meaning that it is perfect for thin membranes, and perfect when consistency and quality are highly needed.

Under Cuts. Well-known as special tools for cutting and construction of silicone parts.

High Precision. It offers consistency even in the production of million of parts from the highest polished to textures.

Blend sections. Can perfectly blend and form holes anytime as needed.

Characteristics of Silicone Molded Parts

Chemical Resistance. The silicone part and components have the ability to resist oxidations, water, and other chemical including alkalis, and acids.

Temperature resistance. Silicone has the ability to stand in an extensive range of temperatures in both high and low temperatures.

Durable. The silicone materials are able to stand in extreme temperatures which is why it makes them ideal for components that are more durable and give a great performance. Also, the finished products from silicone are fire retardant and not easy to melt.

Electrical Properties. Silicone offers excellent insulating properties that make them perfect for electrical applications.

Mechanical Properties. Silicone also offers high tear and tensile strength, good elongation, and excellent flexibility with a hardness of 5 up to 80 shores.

Pigmentations and transparency. Silicone is posses natural transparency which makes it possible to create colorful, molded, and custom parts.

Benefits of Silicone

The silicone materials offer great benefits including:

  • Superior compatibility
  • Bacteria growth resistance
  • Can be processed easily
  • suitable for high-precision and complex parts
  • offers great stability and resistance to the environment
  • low viscosity
  • very convenient and reliable
  • FDA certified, etc.
Application of Silicone Molded Parts

The finished silicone products that are made for injection molding are widely used in different fields of applications especially for medical including fluid management, primary drug packaging, wearable smart drug system, biotechnology, and diagnostics. Not just its also used for the following below:

  • Breast shields
  • Life science
  • Consumer products
  • Electronics
  • Optics
  • Safety and special applications, etc.
Silicone Injection Molding process

The process will start with the preparation of raw materials which is the silicone into two containers. The first container designed to hold base-forming materials and the second one contains the catalyst. After that, the two substance are mixed together and goes into the mold cavity using an injection screw at high pressures. In injection molding the pressures, piston, and temperature can be adjusted in order to suit the desired needs of customers.

Production Capabilities

Overmolding. In this process, the liquid silicone rubber materials are molded around a substrate.

Micromolding. It is the injection molding process that is able to make complex, tiny parts with a weight of less than 1 gram.

Hygienic Molding. We make sure that all silicone parts are made in a hygienic and clean environment. Aside from that, NDDmold rest assured that it passed ISO certifications for quality assurance.

Multi-shot Molding. Silicone is made with a combination of two or more polymers and substrates. This ae the process that is highly applicable in making more complex parts.

Single Shot Molding. This is where need only one silicone material to make injection molding parts.

Wide Range of Industries

Injection molding for the process of silicone materials offers excellent advantages such as:

  • Automated process
  • Flashless technology
  • Short cycle time
  • Batches stability
  • Direct injection no waste happen
  • Process repeatability
  • Automated demolding system
Different types of Silicone Rubber Materials

During the injection molding process there are many types of silicone materials used to make different types of parts and components. The common for this are:

  • Optical-grade silicone
  • Medical grade silicone
  • Flourosilicone
  • Standard silicone ( 30, 40, 60, and 70 durometers )
