NDDMold uses a variety of resin types for injection molding. Every substance has its unique properties and uses. The resins that work with injection molding are listed below.
LDPE
LDPE or low-density polyethylene is a flexible and cost-effective resin. It is weather-resistant, chemical-resistant, moisture-resistant, and has high impact strength.
This resin can be for molding a variety of products including:
- Medical products
- Consumer products
- Electronic components
- Housewares
- Computer parts
- Containers & bottles
- Toys
- Agricultural products
HDPE
HDPE or high-density polyethylene is a food-grade resin. Due to that, it is commonly used for the production of:
- Kitchenware
- Drinking bottles
- Containers
- Refrigerator shelves
This resin also offers excellent resistance to heat, moisture, breakage, or impact. It is also fully recyclable.
ABS
ABS stands for acrylonitrile butadiene styrene. It is a high-strength general-purpose material.
Also, ABS resin is suitable for injection molding and co-injection molding. This resin has good malleability. And as a result, it can be injection molded into your desired shapes easily
Great characteristics of ABS include great temperature resistance, impact resistance, and many more. Additionally, it is colorfast and lightweight. These qualities make them ideal for a variety of sectors and uses, including:
- Computer parts
- Electronic products such as laptop housings, computer keyboards, etc.
- Toys
- Auto parts such as center consoles, dashboard housings, automobile trims, handles, etc.
- Medical devices
- Appliances components
- Housing equipment
- Musical and sports equipment
- Lawn mower cover
Polycarbonate
Polycarbonate is a high-grade resin. It is among the hardest and most durable resins.
PC resin offers near-complete transparency, easy moldability, and high strength. It also has excellent resistance to heat, high impact, and shatter. You can use PC resins for molding durable and temperature-resistant products such as:
- Car parts
- DVDs
- Laboratory and medical devices such as safety goggles, lenses, pipettes, test tubes, beakers, and more
- Mobile phone components
Glass-Filled Nylon
Glass-filled nylon has a nylon resin base that is reinforced with glass fibers. Since it is reinforced, it has more tensile strength. Compared to PC and ABS, glass reinforced has higher heat resistance, higher melting point, and increased strength.
Moreover, glass-filled nylon can be used for molding electrical parts and other products that require insulation. This resin is suitable for these applications since it is non-conductive to electricity.
The glass fiber added ranges up to 40%. You can also select how many percent of glass fibers.
Polypropylene
Polypropylene or PP is a flexible thermoplastic resin. You can bend or twist them without being deformed or broken.
This resin offers high elasticity, tensile strength, high melting point, and electrical insulation properties. It can also resist chemicals, high heat, high stress, solvents, and fatigue. It is also food-safe. Therefore, it is suitable for molding products such as:
- Food containers, tableware, and kitchenware
- Gears
- Living hinges
- Medical components
- Bottle caps
- Washing machine components
- Packaging materials
- Electrical equipment components
- Household appliance parts
- Toys
- Auto parts
To make the PP resin more durable, it is commonly added with fillers.
POM
POM or polyoxymethylene is also known as Acetal or polyacetal. This resin has good dimensional stability, colorization properties, hardness, and low absorption of moisture. Also, it is chemical-resistant, chemical-resistant, and creep-resistant
This resin can be used for molding fixtures, valve components, pump components, buckles, guitar picks, and other point-of-contact components. You can also use them for molding various industrial components and consumer goods such as:
- Ball bearings
- Gears
- Protective casings and housings
- Toy components
- Automotive parts
- Bushings
- Electrical components
Nylon
Nylon or also known as polyamide is a resin that is resistant to chemicals, abrasion, tear, wear, high impact, electricity, and other harsh environments. Due to these characteristics, it is well-suited for the production of:
- Automotive parts
- Medical parts
- Sports gear
- Industrial equipment components
High-Impact Polystyrene
HIPS or high-impact polystyrene is a low-cost resin. It features good impact resistance, aesthetic properties, and good machinability. Also, HIPS has customizable surfaces and dimensional stability. Because of these properties, they are great for various applications, including:
- Appliances components
- Computer housings
- Toys
- TV parts
- Garden equipment parts
- Drinking cups
NDDMold also offers HIPS resin that has flame-retardant grades.
Acrylic
Acrylic is also referred to as polymethyl methacrylate or PMMA. It is a cost-effective transparent resin that is sometimes used as an alternative to glass. Because of acrylic’s high transparency, it is used for producing transparent products such as:
- Eye lenses
- Car components
- Picture frames
Additionally, acrylic offers high impact resistance, chemical resistance, dimensional stability, and good hardness.
PEEK
PEEK or polyetheretherketone is a high-strength resin. It is capable of resisting aqueous degradation, harsh chemical attacks, high temperatures, and other harsh conditions.
Due to its durability, it is perfect for applications such as:
- Pumps parts
- Piston parts
- Medical parts
- Automotive parts
- Compressor plates
- Chemical processing industries
TPU
TPU or thermoplastic polyurethane is a resin known for its rubber-like elasticity. Since it is elastic and soft, it can be molded easily into different shapes or designs you want.
This resin also has high tensile strength and high-temperature resistance. Because of that, it is commonly used for the production of:
- Electrical tools
- Cable insulation
- Sports gear
PET
Polyethylene terephthalate or also known as PET is a resin with excellent mechanical strength. It is lightweight and resistant to abrasion, chemical degradation, and microbial attack. This material is commonly used for molding medical products such as:
- Vascular prostheses
- Implants
- Catheter stabilization cuffs
