ABS Injection Molding
ABS injection molding is a process that uses high temperatures and pressures to inject molten ABS plastics into a mold. The finish process will become plastic that comes in different shapes and designs that are used to meet consumers’ needs. ABS refers of known as acrylonitrile butadiene styrene which is made from monomers, styrene, butadiene, and acrylonitrile.
It becomes highly needed for various industrial applications with excellent characteristics such as heat resistance, chemical resistance, high elasticity and toughness, superior hardness, etc. Aside from that, it becomes perfect during injection molding processes.
At NDDMold, we offer a great solution of ABS injection molding for the development of new products that are commonly found in the markets. We can guide you in different processing methods, whether you want customized, stocks, etc.

ABS plastic offers s outstanding characteristics which make it become popular. These are well-known for their chemical stability, overall performance, high impact strength, good electrical properties, flame retardant, transparency, good flexibility, and more. That is why it becomes suitable for telecommunications parts, wear resistance parts, transmission parts, and so on.
Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene ( ABS ) injection molding is a common method in manufacturing ABS plastic materials. ABS refers to a thermoplastic that is strong and durable. This process is highly efficient and supers fast to create a wide variety of ABS products in just a few seconds by simply injecting molten ABS plastics into the mold cavity.
The injection molding process is highly not just for its low cost but also for its capacity to make different products as customers need.
There are many materials made from ABS plastics that are widely used in different fields of applications due to their ability to resist chemical and physical changes. The common for this are:
Electrical Industry: ABS injection molding are widely used in the electrical industry, especially for computer keyboards, enclosure, and many more.
Automotive industry. In the automotive industry, this is useful to make dashboard components, door loners, handles, pillar trim, instrument panels, seat belt parts, etc.
Commercial: Aside from electrical and automotive this ABS injection molding is used for commercial such as vacuum cleaners, food processors, refrigerators liners, and control panels.
Construction industry: With it high impact resistance, and to stand against physical and chemical changes. The ABS plastic made from the injection molding process is very useful in construction for pipes and fitting.
Not just that, it also uses for communications, robotics, aerospace, industrial, medical, and many more.
The process of ABS injection molding is highly efficient and simple which becomes perfect for a high volume of productions. It offers good dimensional stability, east to drilled or machine after molding. Meaning that, if you wanted high-speed production, this is perfect for you.
- The process of ABS injection molding starts with pellets of ABS resin and is then fed to hoppers.
- After that, the pellets are melted and then injected into the mold at high temperatures and under high pressure.
- Let the molten ABS solidify and cool, after that the parts are ejected into the mold then repeat the process.

Wall Thickness. ABS injection molding is available in different wall thicknesses from 1.14mm to 3.56mm. It always remains constant in order to avoid abrupt changes in consistency.
Draft Angle. ABS injection molding always needs a draft angle between 0.5 and 1° to make sure that the parts can be ejected easily from the mold without any damage.
Part Tolerance. There are two main parts of tolerance in injected molded components which is fine and commercial. The fine tolerance for the ABS part range from 0.050 to 0.1mm and the commercial from 0.1 to 0.325.
Radii. It is designed to reduce stress concentrations and improve moldability, especially since ABS is sensitive against shaft corners. The minimum radius is 25% and the maximum is 60% of the wall thickness.
